All-Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota State Convention Ride Rules & Trail Etiquette

  1. Check-In at Registration - Arrive ½ hour before your ride leaves – Check in with Ride Leader.
  2. If born after July 1, 1987, and you are 16 years or older, you must have an ATV Safety Certificate.
  3. Riders age 12-15 need an ATV Safety certificate and must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian in separate machine.
  4. Only Class 1 (less than 50”) and Class 2 (50” to 65”) ATVs will be allowed on guided rides.
  5. Ride with your lights on - It is a state law.
  6. All riders and passengers under 18 years old must wear a D.O.T. approved helmet.
  7. Get to know the rider behind you and in front of you.
  8. You are responsible for the rider behind you. If you lose sight of them, pull over to the right side of the trail and wait.
  9. Wait at intersections to see if the rider behind you is following.
  10. Always stay with your group, don’t ride off-trail.
  11. Pull over to the right and ride slowly for any approaching riders.
  12. Give yourself plenty of following distance to ensure adequate stopping.
  13. Understand and obey all MN Off-Highway Vehicle Regulations and local ATV ordinances.
  14. Maintain a speed of less than 30 mph on all County or Township Road connections
  15. Follow posted speed limits if less than 30 mph.
  16. Yield for all pedestrians, and slow down in residential areas.
  17. Practice “Ride Sober” and hold off using any alcohol or chemicals that affect your driving abilities.
  18. Wear your seat belt if equipped.
  19. Stay on the Trail, and on far right of on all township & county roads.
