All-Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota State Convention Ride Rules & Trail Etiquette
- Check-In at Registration - Arrive ½ hour before your ride leaves – Check in with Ride Leader.
- If born after July 1, 1987, and you are 16 years or older, you must have an ATV Safety Certificate.
- Riders age 12-15 need an ATV Safety certificate and must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian in separate machine.
- Only Class 1 (less than 50”) and Class 2 (50” to 65”) ATVs will be allowed on guided rides.
- Ride with your lights on - It is a state law.
- All riders and passengers under 18 years old must wear a D.O.T. approved helmet.
- Get to know the rider behind you and in front of you.
- You are responsible for the rider behind you. If you lose sight of them, pull over to the right side of the trail and wait.
- Wait at intersections to see if the rider behind you is following.
- Always stay with your group, don’t ride off-trail.
- Pull over to the right and ride slowly for any approaching riders.
- Give yourself plenty of following distance to ensure adequate stopping.
- Understand and obey all MN Off-Highway Vehicle Regulations and local ATV ordinances.
- Maintain a speed of less than 30 mph on all County or Township Road connections
- Follow posted speed limits if less than 30 mph.
- Yield for all pedestrians, and slow down in residential areas.
- Practice “Ride Sober” and hold off using any alcohol or chemicals that affect your driving abilities.
- Wear your seat belt if equipped.
- Stay on the Trail, and on far right of on all township & county roads.
